Two small tidbits:Brazil and Russia

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Here are two small tidbits of information, already disappearing off the FOX NEWS internet site:

1. Brazils Central Bank has internened (Tuesday) to prop up its currency. This is often one of the last desperate moves before a currency collapses. Brazil received 41.5 Billion dollars from the IMF in November-1998. It only took 3 months for them to get back in real trouble.

2. Russia has finally worked out an agreement with the US and Europe so that we can send them our surplus food. As stated in a previous post on this site (also by Mike Hyatt. others) our food "reserves" are already at historical lows. Shipping is supposed to start in March.

Just wanted to brighten the day of any thinking pollyannas left out there.

Thanks John. Russia is bad enough. There has been a strange silence in Brazil since before the carnival and I was wondering about the stability. This is terrible news for the entire Latin American economy. I can only hope they can avoid complete currency collapse or there will be a heavy price to pay.

Jon,

Pollyannas don't think, they FEEL.

A measure of wheat for a penny, and two measures of barley for a penny, and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
