Yardeni on Face the Nation

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The lineup for Face the Nation on Sunday includes Senators Bennett and Dodd plus Ed Yardeni. Sounds like the topic will be y2k.

Wow! After that Senate report ... how hot & truthful will they be on national TV? Gotta watch this. Thanks, Jolet :-)

That's a must watch for me.

Thanks Jolet.

Be there, or be square. :-)

Thanks y'all. You're as handy as handles on a coffee cup. My bets though: expected toned down language though--albeit some thoughtful questions--depending upon who's hosting.

Well....they are splitting the program between Y2K and "Hate Crimes." Accordingly, expect brevity on Y2K.

Heres the promo:

Our scheduled guests on the Y2K problem: Edward Yardeni, chief economist, Deutsche Bank Securities; Sen. Robert Bennett, R-Utah, chairman, Senate special committee on the Y2K technology problem; Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn, vice chairman of the special committee.

Our guest on the topic of hate crimes: Morris Dees, chief trial counsel, Southern Poverty Law Center.

Expect the following. The "Y2K is potentially diastrous" statements in the Senate letter will be smoothed out to give the appropriate, "we are not kooks" impression.

While a few titillating statements will be made to give the public a few thrills (cut to commercial), the FINAL impression left will be, "this is a very serious problem but good guys everywhere (hey, like US) are working on it, so don't worry your little heads out there ...."

Does anyone know what time (eastern) FACE THE NATION airs?

-- choo choo (what@time.com), February 27, 1999.

I'll watch it, but sure hope that Yardeni & Friends are on before Dees... that man is revolting.

Thanks Jolet...

That's why I love these boards so much, there's always someone on top of what's going to be on out there...

Thanks!!! :-)

I agree, Dees is hard to stomach. I'd add that any show that promulgates Dees and his own special brand of hatred is highly suspect, and shouldn't be relied on for ANY reliable information.

Thanks Jolet!

Please, anyone with a time and station for Face The Nation. (not a Sunday TV watcher)

Heard someone refer to the Sunday morning politico shows the other day as "Deface the Nation" and "Meet the Depressed." Seems appropriate a lot times. :)

I can speak for Los Angeles -

Face the Nation, Sunday KCBS Channel 2 - 8:30 am

Assuming it is weekly same time every week (don't yet have tomorrow's TV Times)

Is that ABC, NBC or CBS?

My brain is tired.

It's on CBS. I posted a similar thread by accident. This one's better, so this'll throw it up top and bury mine.
