North Carolina Has 40% Tax Credit for Certain Solar Systems

NC allows a 40% tax credit up to max. of $1,500 per system for purchase of certain solar energy systems used for cooling, heating and hot water. Check with your lawyer and accountant for details. There are many details affecting the availability of the credit. Also see NC Gen Stat 105-130.23 and GS 105-151.2.

California has a similar consumer program with rebates of up to 50% of the purchase price:

Till the end of June the federal govn. (in the scenario that there is IRS next year...) will give you 100% write-off on a windmill, spread out over the next ten years. And you can sellyour extra electricity to either utililty co. (scenario A) or your neighbors (scenario B).
