USA wants to work with Russia

American defence officials say they have offered their Russian counterparts access to information on missile launches during the transition into the year 2000.

The Assistant Defence Secretary, Edward Warner, said the Russians had been invited to the Space Command headquarters in Colorado later this year.

He said the move was aimed at ensuring that military computers on both sides would not be disrupted by what has become known as the millennium bug, which affects computers that cannot recognise the year 2000.

The Russian Government has not formally accepted the American invitation, but will be sending a delegation to Washington next month.

I don't know which makes me more nervous: having Russians in our missile operations or not having Russians in our missile operations.
