Folks this url: http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/2897/

leads to a serbian hacker website which has a page of photos from the ongoing war over there. If anyone out there is secretly hoping for a 9 or 10, I suggest you take a look at those photos...but not while you're eating - trust me on this.

with a tip of the hat to COL Hackworth for including the site in his newsletter.

Couldn't locate it. Is it still around at a different address?

Hey Arlin,

Did you bother to look at the guest book?

How can you willingly advertise such evil and malice on the internet?

You should be ashamed of yourself

-- (Lancelot @ tavern link.com), March 04, 1999.

Sir Lancelot, you haven't seen evil on the internet yet. The guessbook simply shows the hate between Serbs and Albanians.

Arlin, it's hard to believe humans can be so monstruous with each other, but it's worth pointing it out. I have no doubt that a large US city could turn into a Kosovo were Y2K be an 8-10 in that city.

Thanks Arlin, that was abso-f@#kin'-lootly horrible; I couldn't go past the thumbnails.

And your point is very well made.

Arlin - This is precisely the anxiety that preoccupies my mind mostly in regard to Y2K. Maybe it shoudn't, but there is plainly so much barbarism going on in most parts of the world. We have been blessed to escape it for so many years. Just look at the recent murders of American, British and New Zealand tourists by the Rwandan rebels who stated their reason for killing them was because of hatred for America's support of their enemies. What types of hatred will Y2K evoke? Martin Niemoller, the German theologian said: "When Hitler attacked the Jews, I was not a Jew, therefore, I was not concerned. And when Hitler attacked the Catholics, I was not a Catholic and therefore I was not concerned. Then, Hitler attacked me and the Protestant church and there was nobody left to be concerned." My thoughts are interrupted with this type of worry in regards to Y2K and who might take advantage of our vulnerability. If the Guard and others go AWOL, who will rescue us? Sorry, but those who have no faith in God, have no hope. Mary

Mary,

There are many within these shores who will do everything possible to protect your rights to believe or not believe as you choose.

Lacking belief in God, I would suggest to you to look to The Constitution of the United States of America. There is much there to believe in. Many do.

Lance - if it offended you as much as it sounds like it did, then you got the point. Humpty, Chris, Mary, and Greybear certainly did. All that site does is use visuals to make the same point that TTF/Not Again has been trying to make with words.

kinda puts a whole new slant on the TEOTW in TEOTWAWKI, doesn't it?

bold off.

Isn't it ironic how the warning "MATURE CONTENT" always means what is about to be revealed is some example of gross Immaturity. Either on the part of the content, or viewers' salacious motives in viewing it, or both. :-)

This is not personal at all Arlin. We should be aware that these things are happening.

Of course, MATURE is a misnomer. This label is supposed to be a warning for adults to shield kids from what is coming. But I think that kids can handle anything that is genuinely mature.

What kids can't handle is mature people being immature. This will horrify and pain any child, until they become numb to it, or become wise beyond their years and miss their childhood. When it comes to pornography, the "adult content" to shield kids from is 10% the sex, and 90% the fact that someone went and made a movie like this. That is the really crazy part. There is nothing wrong with sex. The point is the craziness and immaturity of adults seems to know no bottom, and yes kids need the presence of a strong adult to counter all that (not so much shield them from it) in their lives. (I think this belongs on a different thread.)

(Arlin vaguely attempts to turn off the bold typeface)

"All that site does is use visuals to make the same point that TTF/Not Again has been trying to make with words."--Arlin

And as TTF/Not Again has been, you're being stoned for piercing the protecting shield from reality people like Lancelot have. It's too painful to imagine or see, therefore it must be supressed and never shown or talked about.

Debbie, young children must be protected from this horror if they are not involved in war themselves. A 10 year old or younger could not process this intellectualy and would have nightmares and could develope dysfunctional anxiety. It is important to teach children life lessons, but in small doses and what they can handle as they mature.

When you say "There is nothing wrong with sex." it all depends on who's definition of sex you are talking about. There is loving sex among concenting adults, all the way to pornography demeaning to women ,to pornography involving animals, pedophilia and rape of children on the internet.

*whew*

Hi Debbie - no doubt about the fact that the term "mature" is often used to warn of sexually suggestive material...and aren't you waxing philosophical this afternoon?

On the other hand, I would decidedly NOT expose any child for whom I was responsible to that serbian website any more than I would expose a young child to pornography, thus the warning.

Nevermind Debbie, I read over your post and I see we're making the same point. I'm experiencing a data-overload induced brain-fart ;-)

-- Chris (catsy@pond.com), March 04, 1999.

Arlin, Chris, I just read over my post and it's a wonder that anyone understood it! Stream of consciousness mutterings. I'm getting triggered by this, that, and every other thing cuz I'm a little reality-challenged since following events with the Senate report all week! Eek! It's crazy time! Data overload, I can relate to that one.

Ever wish you could delete something you posted?

When that button you have to hit,

Just say no and don't Submit!

What I was saying isn't all that important. Yes I was waxing philosophical. *sigh* I guess at the bottom of it all is I am identifying with what kids go through in trying to sort out what is real, since that is a big task of childhood, growing up and figuring out for yourself what's real.
