Y2K FAST FOOD FACTS Intro

Now there's an even more compelling reason to start eating a simpler, more basic diet.

Hello. My name is Nancy Lee. I'm a food and nutrition communications professional who's been working for many years to get people, businesses, and institutions to start serving and eating a healthier, more sustainable diet.

And now the evidence is mounting. Diet and nutrition IS an important part, not only of maintaining good health, but of preventing disease, as well. The world is waking up to the fact that basic traditional diets, based primarily on beans, grains and vegetables supplemented sparingly with small amounts of animal protein, fats and oils, have withstood the test of time and are ultimately the most healthy. Both for us personally, and interestingly enough, for the whole planet, as well.

But now, curiously, there's an even more compelling reason to start eating a more basic diet.

It's called Y2K. Year 2000. The Millenium Bug. In case you haven't heard about this computer snafu, you can read up about it in "Y2k - Year 2000 - Millennium Bug - What is it?" by Al Anderson, Computer Consultant for y2k EasyFix: e-mail: mailto:y2kfix@y2kEasyFix.com - provided by the InfoBot Index: index@infobot.net

Things are happening so rapidly now, changing day by day. This will continue throughout this year, right up until (and after) The Event: January 1, 2000, the start of the New Millennium. You'll hear a spectrum of facts and opinions all over the map about just what is going to be happening.

The fact is: No one really knows for sure exactly what Y2K's total impact will be. But the bottom line is: Y2K is just about guaranteed to impact more than just computers. Or rather, Y2K's impact on computers is just about guaranteed to have an impact on you, your family and your lifestyle, food included... Even if you don't own a personal computer and Even if your own computer is y2k compliant.

How? Read on.

In the midst of all this, I felt there was a need for balanced, vital food-related information about how to prepare and survive, regardless of the current weeks news or spin on the Y2K situation. Tha'ts why I've created the first in a series of FREE, to-the-point but also personal Y2K Fast Food Facts: information capsules emailed on a regular bi-weekly basis throughout this year. (Note: We're already getting requests for more frequent issues, so we'll be accelerating the release schedule soon).

No techie talk, no costly freeze-dried prescriptions, these info-packed briefs are designed to help regular folk like you and me, deal with and make the best of the "in-a-pinch, in-a-bind" scenarios that Y2K may likely produce. Knowledge is power.

If you have basic food information and knowledge about how to feed yourself and your family under conditions of duress, even if you've never lived in the country or on a farm or in the woods, you'll be in a much better position to sail through, or at least survive, whatever Y2K throws our way. They just might save your life... or your sanity.

Throughout this year, you will receive free, bi-weekly basic information about food and food-related topics that will help you prepare for Y2K and whatever -- information about the whole "food circle" from food, nutrition, growing, processing, preserving, preparedness, surviving, making do, being creative, and truly welcoming in the new Millennium --- what to do it you have to... plus your best mental, physical and emotional diet for nurturing yourself through the stresses of Y2K.
