Does anyone out there have any feelings about artificial intelligence and the idea that man can create consciousness? (I am writing a paper on religious and philosophical responses to machine learning.)

I don't think man can create consciousness but that he can create something that might fool people into thinking that it is consciousness (for a while anyway, and in certain circumstances). Only God can specially create the soul. (Just my two cents!)

Interesting paper for sure. My thoughts are with man made artificail intelligence it will be fed pre-conceived ideas and vice by rote. Creativity is the to my mind the key note here. Man still beats the chess computor.
