Glass bottles - I'm looking for suggestions.

I am in possession of a number of glass bottles.

Rather than drop them off at the recycling center to be crushed, I wonder if anyone can recommend any survivalist-type uses for glass bottles, or can recommend a book about using them.

Some time ago I read that the actor Dennis Weaver built a house using glass bottles and used tires in the walls.

Any suggestions?

Fill these with kerosene or gas ...stuff a sock into the mouth of the jar and set aside for the civil unrest.

I read somewhere that you can fill them with water and stack them in the windows on the sunny side of your house. They will absorb sunlight during the day and radiate heat into the house at night.

I've switched from six pack beer to the (wide mouth) 40 oz. bottles. This is a little more than I'm used to drinking at one sitting (watching a video) but I force myself. Just sometimes a little goes stale but I do end up with a nice (dark) glass (food grade) container for many things. We use them for storing bulk dry milk, coco, bran, farina, etc. The stuff where the store provides those flimsy plastic bags to put it in. The bottles are also good for small amounts of beans and other barter items. They stack nicely, sideways on a shelf and the caps can be labeled.

Me.

Pour bleach in them and seal, your bleach will have a longer shelf life.

Do not throw them away, I wish I had them. You may need them. This is what they can be used for.

Go buy yourself some dehydraded lime. When you get real hungry you can go fishing with the glass jugs. You put a layer of pea gravel in the bottom of the jug, and fill to the half way mark with the lime. and put the cap back on.

When you get to the old fishing hole, remove the cap and fill the jug with water. Replace the lid and throw the jug out in the water. Now get away. The jug will sink to the bottom of the pond or lake. As soon as the pressure builds up inside the jug, it will explode like dynamite. Bringing the fish to the surface with it. Now harvest the fish, before they come too. This dehydrated lime, can also be used as a substute for gun powder in ammo. But you will have to get some other chemicals to make the cap with. Which I will not go into here.
