Are there any kid buyers in Texas ?

That is a milk goat kid. I don't want to insult you by trying to sell a few goats. There is more to the kids than just buying them. Let me try to explain.

My wife and I live on a very rural tract of land (95 acres), located about halfway between Dallas and Houston, 100 miles east of Austin. It is sandy soil, lots of trees, down a dirt road with no neighbors within shouting distance.

There are several possible clouds (events) on the horizon that could drastically change our lifestyle. We consider ourselves prudent citizens so here is an invitation to other prudent citizens of Texas.

Buy a goat and you are in the ranching business with all the tax benefits/deductions. Of course the goats stay on the place with the rest of the herd. You will have a place to stay on the weekends or in case of an emergency. You get a secure place to leave your shelter, food, personal supplies, water and fuel, etc. You will get a chance to make friends, sincere friends, not social climbers or salesmen. You will learn more about solar cooking, canning, animal husbandry, bees, chickens, first aid, gardening, woodsmanship, defensive techniques and a dozen other skills. We will try to make it an enjoyable adventure, school, workout weekend at least once a month. There are plenty of other activities for every weekend.

A young female goat cost $300, which includes board and room through the year 2000. The area for your shelter, supplies, etc. cost $100 a month. This $100 rental charge will be used to build a grade A dairy barn that will include a more secure storage area, a restroom/shower facility and a kitchen. There is a $ 50 a month supplies charge fund to acquire common usage equipment/supplies to be determined by vote of the team members. A far bigger investment will be necessary for your shelter, clothes, food, water equipment, farm tools and defensive equipment.

This group has a limit of six couples. At least one person per couple must take an active part with the tactical team. During stressful times, it is important to have as much in common as possible. Points of common agreement are 1. Politics - Republican or Libertarian. 2. Religion - Christian values but if you need to consult the Lord to make every decision, this is not the team for you. 3. Healthy enough to move through the woods or work in the garden on a regular basis. 4. Race - Caucasian. 5. Moral Values - If your Grandparents would approve of your past actions and present values then we probably will also. 6. Optimistic about your future and the ways you can improve it.

What we would like to do is sit around eating our own goat cheese, drinking our home made wine and telling stories about the past bumps in the road but time is running and the clouds seem to be getting darker and closer.

No thanks George. People here are already prepared, set in their ways, and aren't into goats. No offense, but maybe you'll have some takers on Frugal Squirrel's BB. When it comes to telling people unless your white, Christain, have morals, are Republican or Libertarian no need to apply. It's your property, I guess you can ask for whatever you want. It's funny though that you say it's okay to be a Libertarian because Libertarians believe that no matter what country your from, your free to come across the borders into America (Africans, Hispanics, Jews, Asians, etc). Libertarians also believe in "do your own thing." Can I bring my dope? I'm white but a homosexual. I believe in God, but practice other religions. Libertarians have nothing against people like me. So perhaps you should narrow it down to "white people who are Republicans, and must have the balls of a red neck need only apply." By the way, what else do you do with those goats? Baaa, Baaaa I prefer sheep myself.

Only if they're at least 16. that way their brains have half a chance of being re-absorbed from their shoulder and they can earn their keep.
OH, YOU MEAN GOATS !! Chuck

Wally and you too Chuck Ask your Grandparents, if you know who they are, what they think about your reply to old george's apparently sincere post. Kinda wished I lived closer to someone like them.

P.S. My grandparents are dead, and they wouldn't approve of you.

Christians don't drink wine, and I hate goat cheese, and goats smell and youze all would be sticking me with latrene duty. BTW is your goats name Old George too?

Old George's idea sounds pretty sensible to me. With any luck it should work. So what if there are internal contradictions in his eligibility requirements. Not one person reading this lacks internal contradictions, if I'm any judge -- present company not excluded.

If six families can cobble up a way to work through this together, so much the better. Better to limp ahead than to sit on a rock criticizing the pedestrians.

Politics is the art of the possible.

I don't agree with the racial or religiously conservative views, but think of it this way:

Do your own thing with your own property. As a libertarian, I say that if these people want to restrict only a certain type of people to their ranch, that's their choice. In my opinion it's not the right choice -there are smart blacks and Asians, and there are smart atheists and deists (I'm one of the latter)- but they're allowed their own opinions.

Old George's plans reminded me of the book 'Patriots' by james Wesley Rawles. I would bet he has read it. I enjoyed the book, read it twice. It takes more courage just to make his plans available than I would have and He doesn't appear to be naive. Lots of Luck to you Old George, Go for it !!

Well, first. My parents are the age of most folks' grandparents, so I only knew my maternal grandparents and my grandfher died when I was, oh, 4 or 5. Muy legacy from him is a permanent positive on my TB tests. My paternal grand parents died prior to 1925. My live parent would have seen the humor in the post. My dad, had he been alive would have seen it too.

Senses of humor, Clues, Grips and Lives... .... All are on sale at the Life Store. They're cheap. The Clue Bus, leaving shortly will take you there. Acquire one of each.

BTW NOWHERE was there an attack on ANYTHING in the George's post. My post was worded BEFORE I clicked in to read George's post, and posted after reading it.
