April 1st and significance

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

April 1st is almost here and from what I have heard, there are several governments whose fiscal year begins on this date. What types of problems might come up as a result of y2k problems. What will be the chain effect on our government if any? Will others be able to see what problems another government may have and then use that information to help solve some of the areas of concern that we may have?

I doubt that we will see any effects of y2k on or around April 1st. Unless the problems are really huge, they can and will be covered up or "fixed" with digital bandaids for the time being. The real problems will be hardware problems in early 2000.
