greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

there is a custom in certain countries of preaching a sermon on Good Friday on the last SEVEN WORDS of Jesus on the cross.

i would like to know the following:

1- when and where did this custom originate?

2- is it practiced everywhere or only in certain countries?

3- who was the first person to preach such a sermon?

Thank you. ... ENRIQUE

It is associated with the "Tre Ore" Latin for "Three Hours" Good Friday service. It originated in South America around 1732. It was popular in Latin America ,Italy and North America.
