This is not a sales pitch! Product info only. I 've had my Grundig mini World Band Receiver about a month. I bought it from one of many radio web shops. list is $50.00 and you can do much better than that. This is a small fm/mw +6sw. Very good daytime reception on sw. Much better all around than $200.00 RShack, I think. Needs 2 aa cells to operate, solar for under $9.00 (some junk mail I didn't toss). Hope this will help.

Radio Shack has a smaller version of the $200 DX-398 (which is the Sangean 909) that usually sells for $69. It has AM, FM and several shortwave bands and has digital tuning. The only drawback is that it uses 2 'C' cells (maybe there's a newer version that doesn't).

I got one for my son over a year ago and it works quite well -- it's the best AM band receiver we have (not counting my ham receivers with big outside antennas).
