What happens to status of children in an annuled marriage?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

If my marriage is annulled, are my children considered illegitimate? I have two children, my soon to be ex-husband was having an affair with a Jewish woman, Our marriage was full of lies. But we do have tow beautiful children who are being raised Catholic. What will there status be?

It has no effect on them as to their standing in the Church. They are not considered illegitimate they are God's children on loan to you.

of course not! an illegitimate child iz a child who iz born out of the bonds of marriage...therefore ur children will definitely be legitimate... in God's sight! God knows that humans will fail and so he is filled with forgivness and he is more than able to take u through this tough time... so just keep on praying he'll grant the desires of your heart!

Canon Law states: "Children who are conceived or born of a valid or of a putative marriage are legitimate". A "putative" marriage is one which is assumed valid at the time. Children, once legitimate, do not become illegitimate if the putative marriage is later determined to be actually invalid.
