EditDV Unplugged

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Editing DV Films : One Thread

I'm in the market for an NLE. I currently have Adobe After Effects on my Mac. Given this do I need to get the full blown EditDV 1.5 or am I okay with editing on Unplugged and compositing on After Effects?

Edit DV Unplugged vs Plugged

In my book the big advantage of Edit DV 1.5 vs. Unplugged is batch recapture and timecode support. Neither of which Unplugged handles. If you are only assembling small clips that you've rendered in AFEX, then you might be able to get away with Unplugged or Premeire. If you need to do more serious editing, Edit DV 1.5 is probably a good investment.
