The Internet WebZine, SeeMyTrip to Adventure, will be conducting a "grass roots survey" of the nation to gather information from towns and communities concerning their Y2K readiness and preparations for the new Millennium. The WebZine is unlike many other web sites that have recently sprung up on the Internet to market Y2K supplies or give financial advice. According to the editor, Michael Johnston, their Internet presence is more focused on providing the public with current and concise information regarding how seriously local businesses; industry and governments are taking the Y2K computer bug problem. Visitors to the website can download the survey form (a PDF file) and use it to rate their own town or industry. The form is also available to fill out on-line at the website. Webmaster and owner of the company, Karen Johnston said, "We're hoping that we'll have hundreds of communities & businesses throughout the nation submit their information." The results will be updated on the website on a weekly basis. The brother and sister team has sold most of their possessions and will be leaving their professional careers to travel throughout the nation in a motor home conducting their own "Y2K grass roots surveys." They saw the need for this type of survey as a result of all of the confusing information that is being presented. "It is a very polarized issue, either people see it as a non-event or they are survivalists with their guns, ammo, food and water already stockpiled. We are hoping that we will find that there is a saner level of awareness that is balanced between these two opposites." Johnston remarked.
