HTML-challenged! So that's my problem!

Since Al Gore is the Father of the Internet, I'd say he is the primary cause of my low self-esteem. We need a new federal program with a few billion dollars of funding (for starters) to make me feel better about my unfortunate disability.

Here's your hot link

The writer of this article is obviously ignorant of the FACTS. Here's another example of bundling ! They bundle everyone who beleves we should be prepared into the Gloom and Doom, end of the world, whacko- loser, hoarder bundle.

They have not even taken into account the worldwide economy and its most probable desintegration and its effect on us. They also haven't considered the implication of "minor disruptions" in an economic system based on JIT.

The ignorance of snobs and bores such as these has the potential to cost many people their lives.

Rant Mode Off (as Andy would say)

Those of you who don't know everything are most annoying to those of us who do ! LOL

Dangerous Reactions

While Y2K is a legitimate problem, and some temporary disturbances may result from it, it will clearly not usher us to the end of the world as we know it. A greater problem is the reaction to Y2K that might come from governmental authorities. See Mock-Up for Martial Law .)

The Senates Year 2000 report states that "the nation may be called upon to assist its neighbors in cases of severe Y2K impact. The U.S. has traditionally been one of the strongest supporters of humanitarian aid around the globe. It is unlikely that we will turn our back on the international community in the aftermath of Y2K." Further, Senator Robert F. Bennett (R-UT), chairman of the Senate committee that put the report together, has called for Y2K foreign aid in the past. In a Washington Times op-ed, Bennett stated, "What is called for is a plan for global triage. The worlds wealthy nations will be called on to provide resources and expertise."

No matter what internationalist, socialist wealth transfer scheme the federal government may try to shackle us with, one thing is clear: America as we know it will not cease to exist as we cross the barrier to the year 2000.

The Birchers believe Y2k will be used as an excuse for the government to declare martial law even though the Birchers think Y2k is a minor issue. The JBS is also afraid we'll help foreign countries who have Y2k problems.

The dirty little secret of the Y2k debunkers is that many of them are conservatives too. They're afraid panic will lead to a government reaction and a loss of liberties for themselves. Y2k Pro is afraid of the NWO too.

I must admit that I agree with most of the article "Mock-Up for Martial Law". But they even seem to fall back a little with statements like "Will Congress meekly allow this radical subversion of our constitutional order? "I expect at least I certainly hope that this plan [Clintons proposed continental command] wont even get to first base in Congress," said Admiral Moorer. But Congress is allowing Team Clinton to walk in home runs on Kosovo and other radical White House agenda items. Constituents had better get the message quickly to Team Congress that we wont allow them to keep throwing the game."

I wholeheartedly agree with these statements.

Alexander Hamilton warned in The Federalist, No. 25, that "every breach of the fundamental laws, though dictated by necessity, impairs the sacred reverence which ought to be maintained in the breast of rulers towards the constitution of a country, and forms a precedent for other breaches where the same plea of necessity does not exist at all, or is less urgent and palpable."

James Madison, the "Father of the Constitution," cautioned his fellow citizens to guard against "the old trick of turning every contingency into a resource for accumulating force in government." He also observed that "there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."
