Kodak DC240 Picture Easy 3.1 fails to talk to USB

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Just bought a new Kodak DC240 today (my first venture into digital photos) It's a nice new toy Connecting to Win98 via USB, and everything worked OK first time..However I've now got a problem The Picture Easy v3.1 software has stopped seeing the camera - it started after I had been fiddling about with CF cards and moving images between folders . It's the 'get pictures from your Kodak digital camera option that doesn't work. Shows 'Camera communication error'. The selection box doesn't show the USB, and can't be changed - I think it showed USB at first. Strangely the 'twain' interface, and camera control still work fine. I've uninstalled and re-installed the software, re-formatted the flash card, powered everything off and on a few times. Although I haven't yet tried the Kodak support people - I wondered if anyone come across this problem before and maybe has the answer?? Alex

sorry that i don't have an anwser, just the same type of problems. i just hooked up my kodak dc200 monday and there wasn't any reconition of the usb so i used the serial port. some times it works and sometimes it dosen't. i spoke to kodak and we went through my system and they said everything check out ok with my computer so they wanted me to send my camara in to them. i don't want to do that yet because i don't think its the camara, so i'm looking for help also. yesterday i took more pics and downloaded them into easy software as thumbnails . out of 16, 14 downloaded , some taking repeated trys. when i tryed to view them in full they wouldn't work. it took 45 minutes to download them but they were all superpixil. i haven't tried the lesser quallity yet. i also have a problem when trying to take a picture straight from the software. once there was a 5 minute delay between clicking the take pic button and when the camara did respond. thats why i think its a software problem. i'll let you know if i get anyware.
