Contest: What will y2knewswire's "blockbuster new report" contain?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

y2knewswire is teasing us now: "[A] critical turn of events in the Y2K arena... one you probably never suspected was so important. You'll never forget this Y2K article." Any speculation on the contents? Winner receives accolades and huzzahs and free subscription to y2knewswire's daily reports.

My guess: Koskinen is really Infomagic heavily sedated. Yours?

Seriously, though, my curiosity is peaked.

The "it's a good idea to store years with 2-digits" meme was planted into the collective consciousness by a race of advanced, psychic porpoises who wanted to totally screw us over.

You are correct, sir.

The question was lighthearted and the answers have been great. Anyone care to take a serious stab at it?

Here's mine: The GAO has caught the FAA in more lies.

---the outages in the phone system lately was the result of a y2k test. ---leaks indicate some serious flaws, un correctable, in some of the DOD's toys. ---probability of a few dozen worse than chernobyl's is extremely high, and that within a few weeks after rollover, most of "above the equator" will have been exposed to serious radiation ---quarter pounders with cheese going metric, and no one will be able to figure out whether or not they are getting burned ---a major public pol, someone running for high office, or at least in party leadership, is preparing a major news conference and statement and is going to "spill the beans" on the secret real assessment info he's been getting-maybe someone with good stage presence and voice, perhaps................................................... ---there's been a decision to vastly increase the gov's stockpile of petroleum now, and they have been trying to figure out a way to word it so as to "not create panic"-but no one in gov can come up with anything good, and it's leaking out now, almost breaking ---we've agreed to "co-operate" with china to help rememdiate any possible y2k woes, so zillions of dollars and tons of food are going to be sent over there, with a lot of-here it comes-civilian "drafted" technicians. That's the biggee, I think. An emergency "humanitarian" EO, reinstituting the draft for tech workers--anyone recall all those little official questionairres sent out-the reports last year?

y2knewswire's looking for more click through so it's playing a little game to stimulate interest. My guess, it's about money.

The little microchip thingy in the $50 or $100 bill is non-compliant and has a "roll over" glitch that will render the change readers at Las Vegas and elsewhere to interpret all 50s $.05 and all 100s $1? The only way to fix it is to turn over all your larger bills to your local bank for a credit toward a new "remediated" currency that will not be able to be issued until after January 20. In the meanwhile, as there are not enough dollar bills and coin to make up exchange for the bills, you will be issued a special "debit card" by the bank on those funds. (Just kidding)

All of the Voter Services computers will be down for the next election. (Voter Services are the vote scammers who predict winners before polls have closed)We will have to go back to paper ballots which will allow a halfway honest election process again.
