"Your mission, should you choose to accept it..." (What's our mission statement?)

So... what's the mission statement for our as yet unnamed coalition?

Okay, to appease Joseph, I am adding the following thoughts re: mission statement. Please note, these are in no cohesive order. They are ramblings to which stuff may be added, deleted or otherwise improved.

Strengthen our community by providing its members with the resources and training to access and fully utilize information technologies.

To coordinate our efforts to build a network that allows fragile community members (or members of fragile communities) to participate in personal enrichment, job readiness, education, governance, and advocacy.

the end.

Here is another stream of thoughts a bit more cohesive.

Our mission is to assist members of our community to educate, inform, plan, and collaborate more effectively. We do this via the Neighborhood Information Network. The network provides convenient access to the available resources, a forum for dialogue exchange, and an environment for education, training, support and advocacy. This network allows all citizens to capitalize on available information, and to participate on an equal basis in the social, economic, and political processes which affect their lives.

The Mission:

I like Terressa's mission statement but I added/made changes to it. Sorry Terressa.

Our mission is to assist members of our community to educate, inform, plan, and collaborate more effectively using technology. Using computer centers will provide convenient access to the available resources, a forum for dialogue exchange, and an environment for education, training, support and advocacy. This network allows all citizens to capitalize on available information, and to participate on an equal basis in the social, economic, and political processes which affect their lives.

So, Todd, that looks good to me. I welcome capable wordsmiths.

I will revise the Strategic Plan to include an amalgam of the mission statements contributed here, since the statement I devised is less appropriate than yours. Thanks for the input and ideas.
