What does Pentecost mean to you as a Chrsitian

As a practising Catholic I am very interested to know what others both Catholic and Non Catholic think of celebration.

Pentecost has meaning to both the Church and to each individual in the Church.

For the Church, it marks the birth of the Church of Jesus Christ. It was when the promised outpouring of the Holy Spirit was fulfilled. Up 'til that point, Jesus personally led the disciples. Pentecost was Jesus sending the Holy Spirit to indwell and lead us in His stead.

For each individual, we each need to receive our own personal Pentecost where we are filled with the Holy Spirit. Just as the apostles would lay hands on each believer so that they also could receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

JEAN AND DAVID: we all had our pentecost the day of our confirmation. if keep that alive we'll be always guided by the HOLY SPIRIT, even in so little things as pronouncing the name of Jesus, or saying Abba= Father. the Spirit will be with us when we are weak, will give us light to understand the word of God, etc. etc.
