I heard a story recently about a Pope who was actually a woman, although her true sex was not revealed until her death. As a response, the story went, the Church instigated use of a "pope chair", which would allow someone to inspect the genitalia of a new pope, thus assuring he is male. Is this true? And if so, what was the name of the transvestite pope? Thanks.

Shoron,This question will raise the hackles of many " head in the sand " catholics. Yes there was a female Pope during the Middle Ages. Exact date I am not sure of but ran across this during studies. She was deleted from many " official ' lists of sitting Popes but with reseach the truth came out.

Sharon can speak for herself but i live 5 minutes away from the college "Wittenberg university" , which i am sure has computers and a ".edu".

Michael, I'm not familiar with the university, so when I saw the email juxtaposing her name "abbott" at wittenberg . . . well, it brings to mind the Reformer :-) Nothing wrong with that, I just thought it was funny if it was a coincidence.
