hi - i purchased a "WEST BEND HOT AIR POPPERY II CORN POPPER" off ebay ($8.99 and in almost new condition) and have had wonderful results using it as is for roasting my green beans - i had heard about modifying poppers but see no reason to, as long as you monitor the beans while roasting and don't try to do too much at a time (average 1/2 cup takes less than 5 min to produce great dark roast - we drink only espresso and prefer dark altho you can roast as light or dark as you wish)... for more ideas, you might want to check out this site: http://www.sweetmarias.com/airpopmethod.html they were the ones who recommended the popper model i got as being the most popular one, and i can definitely see why! but if you are still wanting to modify, there are step-by-step instructions here: http://members.shaw.ca/espressomio/poptwo.html (i tried looking at the link you mentioned but was unable to bring it up) - anyhow, hope this helps and best of luck - and be sure to check ebay before buying popper, as they do have the best prices you can find online!
