Are any of you folks preparing for y2k-related disruptions?

Are your local RC churches aware/preparing, or are they as blissfully ignorant as mine?

Hope you answer this. I'm curious.

RC,

Yes, I have prepared my household for Y2K-related problems and I believe you will find that David Palm has done so as well. We met while monitoring Ed Yourdon's Y2K forum which can be found by clicking on this url if you are interested.

They discuss a wide range of topics from preparations advice to monitoring the Y2K status of various industries. Check out the archives at the bottom of the page for good information. There are well over 100,000 messages logged there.

As for my church, there is no organized effort to prepare, but many, if not most, individuals are preparing.

I believe everyone should have a minimum of 3-4 weeks of food, water, heat, etc. stored up. As one in the IT industry, the chances for disruptions are significant enough to warrant such preparations. Even if things turn out to be relatively mild, there is a good possibility that some pockets of the U.S. will experience severe disruptions as will many nations who are even less prepared than the U.S.

Hope this helps.

As to the y2k problem I have prepared myself for a good nights sleep and awaken to the day The Father give me.

We should all be informed about possible effects. But every Catholic has read or should read "Tertio Millennio Adveniente" As the Third Millennium Draws Near.
