We are in the process of S-L-O-W-L-Y cleaning up this forum so we can get back on track with serious discussions (most the time) on Y2K and preparations.

Ed asked us to take over moderating, so we are. He did not have the time so this place became a free-for-all which was fine. It is now JUNE 1999--with six months to go before New Years continuing the troll games is a waste of all our time.

The constant heckling, harrasing, profanity, flamming (within reason) and the barrage of TROLL attacks trying to disrupt the Forum need to stop. This intent has amply been proven to be the case by a small group of Debunker and Biffy posters, and others.

We have given some of the agitators polite warnings. PLEASE STOP THE TROLLING.

If continued, your post will be edited for profanity or deleted.

That does not mean we are required to put up with those who heckle and do not contribute to the Y2K discussions.

Polly/Doomer and all flavors between Y2K extremes are welcome here. Anyone is welcome to post anonymously. Remember your manners and use your own handle. Try to refrain from submitting a flame and to clean up your behavior for us all.

Intentional meanness/rudness/profanity is no longer acceptable behavior. All contributors are welcome--even heated flamers--please attack the messag--not the messenger. Intentional disruptors will be encouraged to leave or to post comments/information adding value. Y2K on-topic and related issues, information and opinion/intelligence is preferred, though not required.

The forum and modertors team is in the process of evolving and changing using your input. Newer guidelines will be posted--soon--under the Ask a Question and About sections.

Looks like chuckie has found a means to continue his version of the attack eh? We may just have to see where this goes.

Personally I would let it run, Freedom of speach is something that would reach to many folks on both sides of the camp as something to critique.

I don't know how it started and usually ignore the polly - troll posts. But it is a good indication of why Ed would have left yet.

Diane, like it or not you may have to let the forum and its members decide on the content. The last week has gone over very well. I think the main thing has been established, that we still have a forum and it is still active. What ever you do, try not to take things personally as if the attack is directed at you. Remember what you wrote above, Attack the messanger not the message.

I still think the foul langauge and violent threats should be pulled and possibly posted on another forum.

OR what if we deeked them out, start a Y2K forum just to make trolls go crazy on :o) A "Y2K Aware TEOTWAWKI stay in the bush for a year" forum. that would be funny :o)

Try not to get to emotional, If the forum is going to deal with the troll types then we have to rely on the members of the forum to know what is crap and what is not. If they don't know then there is little reason to have the forum.
