Synopsis of Naval War College Y2K scenarios...

Here's a LINK to a synopsis chart of the Naval War College's Y2K scenarios.

In general, I think it's pretty good, except no mention is made as to how the country gets from the Y2K-induced "Peak" end results in column V to the "Exit Points" in column VI. Comments, folks?

All I want to know is that if the military sees it necessary to make a ton of preparations how come they can't come out and tell john/jane Q. Public to do likewise? I mean, does the government and the military stay in touch anymore or are we just paying them to fight each other now?

An interesting indicator towards the fall will be how many of our soldiers will be on the move. I expect there will at some point be a curtailment in PCS moves (change of station), ETS (departures from services) - already in Air Force due to Kosovo, TDY (Temporary Duty - such as schooling and special training). As short as we already are in personnel across the board in all services, how these transient personnel are handled might tell us more how serious the military really views Y2k!

I just printed this out. I am using this material to convince some people that they need to prepare. I like to go around asking people what they think about Y2K and get some interesting answers. Some people do realize that it will be rough. Other people have no idea that there will be the slightest impact.
