Pope John Paul's Death...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Given the hysteria surrounding the millenium and the "end of the world" thoughts, as well as Pope John Paul's ailing health. What kind of effect would his death have on Catholics and the world? If the Pope dies, is that a sign that the world is ending?

It would be a sad day. When John Paul II dies it will mean that the Cardinals and the Holy Spirit will have to elect a new Pope.

Stephen: what bro. Rich says is what most catholics would say and think upon the holy father's death.

as the holy fahter's death being a sign of the end of the world consider that up to this day at least 261 popes have died and the world is still around. no pope's death is a sign of the end of the world. remember Christ's words: about the day and the hour no one but the Father in heaven knows it (notwithstanding what some false prophets have claimed)

Do you actually believe that the end of the world would come if the pope were to die? I mean, the pope is not God. The pope is a man elected by men to be the head of the Roman Catholic Church, not a man elected by God to be the head of the church. If the pope had been elected by God, you would most definitely see something going on between God and the pope, but you really do not. Just the pope, the cardinals, the bishops, priests, monks, fathers, etc.

Much love in Christ

Dear Anonymous:

How do you know taht God did not elect the POPE? Does He communicate with you to let you know who He elects or who He doesn't?

How do you know what goes on between God and the Pope? Wouldn't be very presumptous on my part to say that I know what goes between God and you? Our relations to God are a matter of the most inti- mate recesses of our soul, how could you kno them?

Dear Enrique:

The Pope is just a simple mortal. That's all. The Catholic Church is as mortal as his Pope. No God interventions. I won't imagine God involved in all these shamefull things that have been happening in the Vatican during the last 1600 years. If this Pope dies they'll find another one. What's teh use of worrying?

Does pipo intend to stick around for the next 2,000 years and explain why the Catholic Church is still alive and holy two millennia after his post in this forum? A ''shameful'' Catholic like Mother Theresa of Calcutta, or Padre Pio, or Father Damian the Leper; just incidents in the evil history pipo denounces? Does pipo think God is involved in anything at all? Or is the Church a 2,000 year religion of world-wide scope and influence because it is merely mortal? Maybe Christ should have founded His Church on you, PIPO? Oh, excuse me; you're mortal. Jesus can't use you unless you're immortal. How very stupid of me !

I was a Profound, raging anticatholic, but when heard the acceptance discourse of John paul I (The First), I was that pleased, that I promised my self that I will go back to the church (Meaning catholicism) if he really would implement his plan. My second thought was...This man is going to be killed. Then I laughed,"No this would have to happen within the church and I do not think they would go that far". The sad truth is that John Paul I died within a month. The church (John Paul II)disclosed several briefs about it. They where easily proved a lie (Strongly documented), so they had to come with a new one. The church tried for several days and months until general's public interest faded. John Paul II promised he would do an investigation. We havent seen yet anything serious. When considered from a "Grown-up adult's point of view, we all can tell when somebody is trying honestly and when don't.If I was the actual pope, I would think that my honor was on doubt, and could not look straight to people's faces. So what are youn talking about the actual pope dying, if the previous was a real scandal, and gotn shamefully covered?. So why do not all christians try hard and recovered that last chance that god gave us with John Paul I, to be real christians as jesus spoke and intended, with his compasion, open mind and non jujdgamen tal attitud? Oh, uh, Arielle ...

Your buddy, Luis Vilaplana, referred to himself as "Sikh." Can you please let him know that it is properly spelled "sick"?

He wrote: "The church (John Paul II) disclosed several briefs about it. They where easily proved a lie (strongly documented), so they had to come with a new one. The church tried for several days and months until general's public interest faded. John Paul II promised he would do an investigation."

FACTS:
(1) The Catholic Church did not "disclose ... briefs." It simply reported the truth about the pope's death.
(2) Nothing was "proved a line" -- neither "strongly" nor weakly "documented," because there was nothing to prove.
(3) Pope John Paul II promised no "investigation," because there was no need for one. The deceased pope had a bad heart. That's all there is to it.

God bless you.
John
