What is with all these y2k doom TV commercials?greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
I've see a few y2k doom tv commercials that companies are making to exploit the issue just to sell a product, how disgusting!!

It's just one more way of making preparers appear to be Nut-cases. Time will tell. The clueless just keep making those big bank deposits. I must admit however....that Motel chain commercial about enjoying the Apocolypse from one of their rooms (or not) is pretty funny!

And now, the question we all want to have answered - will the Year 2000 Volkswagon be advertised as the Y2K BUG?

Damn Paul.....that was actually "human". 10 points, my man!!!

The question is, will these commercials help (by raising awareness) or hurt (by trivializing the issue, or worse... causing irrational fear)?

Paul,What a riot!!!
MC,
I would vote irrational fear.

I like the one where the guy has to rush to take a polaroid of his bank balance on the ATM. The lights go out after showing a balance of 345 or something...they come right back up and show 48 million!Thats a double Polaroid if I've ever seen one!

the easiest way to discredit someone is to accuse them of being mad....it is on the wind though....(sounds crazy, doesn't it?)
