And 'CD' wonders why so many tune into Rense, Bell and shortwave....

Plain and simple. You will get more truth and reality listening to Charles Phillips, Dr. Lorraine Day, Dr. John Coleman, Geri Guidetti, Lloyd Pye, Law Professor James L. Hirsen, Sherman Skolnick, Jeff Green, Thurston Bell, Greg Braden, David Bresnahan, Dr. Len Horowitz, Joan Veon, Dr. Chet Snow, and Wayne Green then you will ever get out of Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, the New York Times or the Washington Post. PERIOD.

If that makes one a 'free thinker' that thinks outside of the box of the institutionally degreed black and white thinker and disbeliever in anything other than what comes out of the mainstream media, then I for one will stand up and be proud of it.

Translating the above points to Y2K... your wake up call will depend upon one thing: It always has been and always will be who you hear it from.

8 more working days until the 31 Dec 98, I mean 31 Mar 99, I mean 30 June 99 deadline. I wonder how many will actually make this one?

orwelliator-

Your mis-representation of my question has prompted me to write. Actually, at no time did I "WONDER" why so many tune into Rense or Bell. (And I have no idea where you came up with a reference to "shortwave"?)

Being that you chose to bring my name into the title of a new thread, might you now care to make the effort of re-reading my comments and answer the actual question that I posed?

CD you stated: "Even the most die-hard fan of this genre has to admit that 99% of the stuff is bogus and would make world headlines if it were even remotely true" ....

CD, did you read my accompanying link?

I make a point about media control and manipulation of the mainstream belief system. No, you are not going to ever read or hear any truth that uncovers the ongoing deception of our populace in the mainstream media, that is, except to lampoon it.

Bell, Rense *and* shortwave programming offer a valuable venue for speakers and authors who are ignored in the mainstream media. Case in point: Law professor James L. Hirsen and his interview on the Rense show. His books can be found at Amazon.com. Enlighten yourself.

Implying that *all* guests and topics on Rense and Bell are not presenting bonafied information (your comment: "I think the majority of us here would agree that those who actually BELIEVE these persons/shows are quite naive") pretty much says you won't listen to anything unless you hear it from an authority figure such as Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, etc. The reality is, along with the sensationalistic stuff presented on these programs are the real gems. Bits and pieces of truth.

When one spends the time and energy in an attempt to ferret out the truth, one becomes rather skeptical of mainstream media and pessimistic about what the truth probably is.

Your time would be better spent pointing out the garbage and outright lies fed to the masses through ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, etc, ad nauseum. And your version of y2k? Once again, it always has been and always will be who you hear it from.

Thanks for your well-reasoned response Orwelliator. You obviously feel quite strongly about the media issue. I respect that.

Agree 100% with OR - the last few years listening to bell and especially rense have been a true education for me.
