Format of this forumgreenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Forum Moderators : One Thread |
As I've mentioned before, this forum appears in a different format for me than the TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) forum. This is the case in both MSIE 4.72.3110.8 (Update version ;SP1;) and Netscape 4.51.What I see here is a screen split horizontally, with the upper window listing all messages in chronological order, earliest first, subject of each thread flush left, responses on each subject indented 3 or 4 spaces, each response identified by a copy of the original subject line. No date or poster is shown. The lower window initially shows this header
[ Post New Message ]and continues withTimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Forum ModeratorsClick on a subject line above to see the full message that corresponds to it.
This discussion group is part of Time Bomb 2000 Forum Moderators Web-Page Test.
There's a bit more in re other Greenspun fora. No footer.
Clicking on any subject line or response entry in the upper window opens the corresponding post in the lower window, where the header reads
[ Post New Message | Post Reply to this One | Send Private Email to Diane J. Squire | Help ]and the footer reads[ Previous | Next ]Items between brackets are links.)
It's quite a drag, as I have to scroll through all entries in the upper window to find any new messages (unvisited/visited links identified by color).
I understand that for normal people this forum appears in the same format as the TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) forum.
I'd sure appreciate some help in becoming normal again.

Tom...I've come across this format too. Did you enter from the link on the Greenspun site that lists ALL the forums?Mike ===================================================================

This is the URL I'm using -- http://greenspun.com/bboard/main-frame.tcl?topic=TimeBomb%202000%20%28Y2000%29%20Forum%20ModeratorsI believe I reached it initially from a link given in an e-mail from Diane. Then just parked the link in Favorites.
Another odd thing is that the addresss window showing that URL never changes, no matter what thread or reply I open in the split screen mode. But when I open the [Post a Reply] link, then it changes to http://greenspun.com/bboard/post-reply-frame.tcl?refers_to=000z6X

TomThe forum can be displayed two ways, Q&A which is the format that you see and a threads format which sucks. What you are looking at is the thread format I believe.
