Readiness Goal
CP&Ls overall goal is to be Year 2000 ready, and its efforts to reach this goal are on target. Year 2000 ready means that critical systems, devices, applications or business relationships have been evaluated and are expected to be suitable for continued use into the Year 2000, or that reasonable work-arounds and/or contingency plans are in place.
This is the area where Carolina Power & Light's Year 2000 statements are posted in accordance with the Year 2000 Information and Readiness Disclosure Act.

i wonder what there contingency plan is for genarating electricy. Maybe they will gather all of thier employees together amd have them rub thier feet on a nylon carpet and then touch a genarator at the same time!

One important question comes to mind when I read this definition:

Have the contingency plans been thoroughly tested?

Since it appears that companies do not know how reliable their computer systems are, it would seem to be important to make sure that the contingency is strong and works well in many conditions.
