Christ As Abused Friend

Thoughts this day were of how we abuse the offer of friendship with Christ. Does this reflect our attitude of how we treat those close to us?

Jean, interesting thought. Perhaps the way we treat our friendship with Jesus and others is based on a faulty concept and understanding of love. If we loved Jesus, we'd obey Him (his words). In my observation, too often, we love in a very selfish way . . . as long as we are receiving something in return. In my dictionary, loving or desiring someone to get something in return is lust, not love. Perhaps that explains some of our failings in relationships, especially with the Lord. If we love Him only to the degree that He provides for us, that falls way short of the mark don't you agree?
