Solar Cookers, ideas that will help all....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

To all who have started building a solar cooker, I have been cooking my lunch along with the guys who are building my new house in my solar cooker. They thought it was "NUTS" trying to cook food in an insulation box. But now they bring their "Tupperware containers to cook their lunch in my box. They are not laughing now. So I have found that even tupperwear containers work instead of metal pots. I even placed a can of Overstuffed Ravioli in the cooker and it only took 35 minutes to fully cook,almost too hot to handle getting out of the cooker box. And the more items in the box the better and hotter the temp inside the box.Temp gauge reached 210 degrees ! Just thought this will help anyone trying to do this.... Furie.

Furie, Do you happen to have a link to any sites with instructions on building your own solar oven? I have seen it several times on the forum and just can't seem to locate it tonight. Thanks in advance.

Hey Furie==

Great job! These are the kind of real life tested and used prep ideas we need. Many I've seen are suspect at best and an out and out rip off at worst. Keep up the good work, and let us know of further sucesses as well as the limitations.

Thanks, Respectfully: Michael
