Automated Y2K news gathering

While I am sure many forum participants already use this service, you can use "Yahoo" (and other sites) to "auto-gather" Y2K news stories. For example, to use Yahoo, you simply have to register for "My Yahoo," a personalized content page. Part of the personal page is an automated news search engine. If you set the keyword search to "Y2K," you have "one touch" access to recent Y2K news stories. These include wire stories from Reuters and Associated Press. An example of today's stories:

When I search for Y2K news articles, I use these four keywords:

"year 2000" y2k bug* glitch*

-- Linkmeister (link@librarian.edu), July 12, 1999.

For example, here's an Excite search for newspaper articles on Y2K:

http://search.excite.com/search.gw?search=%22year+2000% 22+bug*+glitch*+y2k&c=timely&callerfarm=nt

Check out http://www.y2ktoday.com -- we provide morning and afternoon Y2K news roundups.

Another good source of Y2K news articles is Sanger's Review of Y2K News Reports:

I have my excite homepage set up to autosearch for Y2k news.

In fact, I once had the following as search criteria

""year 2000"

y2k bug*

glitch*

good news*"

but the autosearch would always result in the following

"search found no results".
