I read this last night, and spent a bit of time passing word along about it to just about everybody I know. After thinking about it for a day, it still seems like "Machiavelli looks at y2k."

It seems to me Dr. Barnet is really practicing what he is preaching. Namely, that more openess will contribute to a greater success and that adequate information allows proper planning and preparation pre and post Y2K.I applaud his efforts.
Thanks Critt for posting this.

I agree that Barret is a hero for his openness. The report is overall fascinating. But, yes, a bit Machievellian, for better or for worse. Maybe that's the way things are--the universe runs--at some level. It's all impersonal., mechanical, inevitable. The one thing though with which I disagree is the extent to which the U.S. is seen as a competent country that will win. I see a lot of problems here and foresee a lot of disruption. I don't see the evaluation facing that so much.

"There's no escaping Y2K."Yep, conclusion of those studying it. The reality & ramifications grow on one, invade all thoughts and viewpoints. A GI is changed by this; the DWGI are resisting a big change!
Critt, you are invaluable to this Forum. Thanks for all your posts and labor behind the scenes.
