Is it OK to use water softener salt blocks for human consumption? From what I see on the lables , its just pure NaCl.

Don't know - probably but..... why take a chance when food grade salt can be purchased for about $3.00 for 25 pounds at a restraunt supply house?

25 pound bags of salt can be purchased in most all supermarkets and feed and seed store around here. $3 is high. I just bought 25 pounds for $2.29 last week. I will stop buying when I get 200 pounds.

Yes, it's OK, as long as you get Solar Salt, or some other kind that has no other additives. A reason to do it this way (if you have a softener), for those with DWGI relatives, is that you can stock up a few years of softner salt without raising an eyebrow.

Someone, please e-mail me if this post screws up the formatting of this thread. I'm experimenting.
