We were at a neighborhood meeting and I ran into a neighbor I hadn't seen for a while. "Ready for Y2K?" I smiled. "Well, we are at work," came the reply, "all leave has been cancelled for two weeks from New Year's."

The neighbor is a mental health professional and is employed by a large state psychiatric hospital.

"'Millennial Madness'?"

"Oh no, nothing like that, although there might be one or two cases. We anticipate an unusually high number of emergency admissions. You know--because of small offices with everything on the computer. Appointments, charts, medication schedules, regular check-ups, what have you--all gone. I expect we'll be really busy."
