Today I realized that my job sucked. Does your job suck? If so, tell us why.

My job sucks because I only wanted a part-time job, and this week I have 40 hours. Does that sound like part-time to you? The suckiness factor is compounded for me because I go to summer school and have to study for class and things, and it's sort of hard to study (and find time to eat) when you go to school from 9-12 (and get off the bus at 1), and they try to make you work from 2-11 pm. (I managed to make it 3-11 pm.) I work closing shifts (3-11 pm) everday this week, except Wednesday. On Saturday I work 9-6.

Another thing that sucks is that I get all the crap jobs. I noticed that there were some girls who were getting trained on the register, and it was their first day. They got to ring people up for most of the day, while I was the Dressing Room Slave Girl. I had customers shouting at me because I had no available dressing rooms (like it's my fault that they had to wait in line). I'm constantly running around the store during the day, and then after the store closes we're used as beasts of burden to hurl around boxes and boxes of clothes. The managers all try to act like teenagers, and thus nothing is ever accomplished really, and everything is very disorganized. It bothers me much. Dave says I should find a new job. I need money, so I'm staying in.

Grr. Old Navy is no longer a "fun place to shop". It's more like a "hellish place to work".

I work at Wal*Mart. That should be enough said, but I'm just going to add that I know the woes of working full-time on a part time job. I know how it is to work overtime on a part-time job. Yesterday I worked the illustrious 1:30pm-11:30pm shift. That's a nice one.

I think I realized that my job sucked when I looked at the schedule for next week, and found out that I get to work from five in the afternoon until one in the morning on Friday. I go to bed at around eleven thirty these days. Oh, and I'm also working 40 hours next week, and getting paid a little over minimum wage for it. Very little. If I didn't need the money so badly, and if it wasn't for the fact that there are only a couple of really busy twenty minute periods in a day of work. Or something.

Today I worked from 3 to 12-something am. I was scheduled from 3- 11. The store closes at 9 pm. Was it MY FAULT that we got a shipment of 300 boxes? No. Do I want to physically beat Ms. Teen America, Hester? OH LORD, YES. Tonight while we were breaking boxes down, I would purposefully fling my boxes Hester's way in hopes that it would hit her. Those of you who know me know that I'm not usually an active person with my anger. This job makes me swear. In front of the managers. It makes me make biting, sarcastic remarks to those who have been there longer than I have. I swear, I almost walked out on my job today. I don't really give a flying f*ck if I get fired. THAT'S how bad it is. And to top it all off, I get $5.70/hour.

$5.70 an hour?! Jeez, that makes me feel a whole lot better about Costco! I still MY job though. I'm scheduled to work 45 hours this weeek and I'm only part-time!

'I still "hate" my job though' is what I meant to say.

I thought minimum wage was $5.75. Hmmm. Go figure.

Today I like my job a little more than normal. Yesterday I turned in my notice, since I'm moving and all. The manager called me into his office and said he was going to talk me into staying. I said I couldn't stay since I was going to school and all, so he said he would talk me into transferring. And he did. I told him all my hesitations (I don't want to start until mid- to late-September, I want only limited hours until I get settled in Bellingham, I don't want to be a cashier) and he said he could take care of it all for me. He also said that I needed to stop by personnel today to sign a document that authorizes my merit raise. And he said that if I stay on, I'll be getting my one-year review in two months (they don't take away time you've worked if you transfer) which means another raise - one that will finally bump me up to the over $7 range. Yay for me.

Today I finally had a good day at work. I got to be a cashier for a couple of hours, which is less physical work, but more stress since you have to deal with grouchy people. I dealt with everything today: cash, checks, Canadian currency, Traveler's Cheques (from Holland), and the ubiquitous credit card. It was great.

I also got to work with new people I had never met before, and they were really fun to be with. One of them is going to be a cheerleader for Western next year and was so excited that I was from Olympic High School because "they had *such* a good cheer squad there!" I was proud, dammit.

At the end of the day, my co-workers were convinced that I was on crack. The jokes over the headset were always, "Lay off the crack, Joy", or "I think I found your crack pipe", or they'd pretend that they were lighting up a crack pipe and make funny ha-has.

I'm not really sure how much I make per hour. A few months ago I got a raise up to 11.62 an hour and within a couple days I was promoted to part-time cashier, raising me up to 12-something. And I think I have another pay-raise coming up soon. Maybe I should read my pay stubs a little closer and find out how much I really make. A few days ago, word got out that I was planning on leaving for my mission and that I wanted to go to Japan, one of the front-end managers pulled me aside and asked me if I would like to transfer to the new Japan warehouse while I was there. Hmm, I don't think so. After my brother gets home, I'm going to try and get him a job at Costco. Maybe I can just give him my nametag and some of my clothes and he can just replace me at work. He'd even drive the same car. Hmm.

You could give him the name tag that says "Mike" and add new letters to make it "Matt". That's his name, right? (I'm forgetting.)

I'm hungry. Mmm mmm, bread and water.

People who make "12-something" an hour suck.

Why doesn't this thing put messages in chronological order? That would make waaaaay more sense.

My job sucks. It sucks because blackjack players do.

"James, why do you keep winning?" "James give me blackjack one time!" (this after giving it to them 3 times already! bastards).

Know the difference between blackjack players and puppies? Puppies stop whining.
