Dear Jean, I am well aware of the magnificence of this feast day and I am very glad she said yes. Maybe you can answer a question for me. Since Mary had no original sin does that mean that she never had to suffer as all of have had to do after Adam and Eve? Was the birth of Christ pain-free? Did she have to go through all the anxious moments that mothers do about their kids? Did she ever have to get sick? Ellen

Ellen - As to a painless birth of this I do not know. Regarding all the emotional levels of Mary I trust She did experience and suffer all the ups and downs of being human. After all how else could She understand the sorrows and joys. +Peace+

Ellen, Even Jesus who was without sin and not by a single grace of God suffered more than any human. As for Mary in childbirth, I personally believe that Christ did not cause pain to his Mother in childbirth. It was a virgin birth that did not carry the curse of increased childbirth pangs, because there was no original sin involved in the entire process of this birth.

I personally believe that Mary did experience the pains of childbirth. Sin or no sin, what was the signifigance of her saying yes if she had to make no effort or sacrifice. Then, she had to raise a son. The only begotten Son of God, and her son. I think she still faced the trials and stresses of raising a child, as only minimally shown through her worry and concern when she spent 3 days back tracking after she discovered that Jesus wasn't with the traveling party. I think Jesus was a great kid, probably perfect, but that still doesn't mean it was easy. Luke 2:48-49

God Bless you all.

Jesus was "probably perfect" ???

Anastasia (great name), how could he have been "imperfect" in any way? He was God, born of an immaculately conceived virgin.
