We know that some of the utilities use the signals from the GPS system to calibrate their clocks. There have been some questions about how important this is to them, and if there are disruptions due to Y2k (which is possible) will it affect the grid when they have to use other clocks? Starting Thursday, there will be some changes made to the GPS system which could cause some problems, and then of course there is the "rollover" set for this weekend.
