Anybody heard from Jim Lord today?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

O.K., guys.

I'm posting this thread because of the news coverage of the past 24 hours.

Yesterday at this time, the AP story had barely hit the light of day.

Less than 24 hours later, Jim Lord has been roundly discredited by at least two broadcast networks: CBS and NBC.

That is pretty darn fast. This points to a major public relations scramble in the hallowed halls of you-know-where.

So my question is this:

Has anyone heard from Jim Lord today?

Please use this thread (if you would be so kind) to post follow ups regarding communications from him. If so, maybe the busy signals on this server will decrease somewhat.

:)

Jim's on the road. I spoke with him several times yesterday. He caught the establishment with their pants around their collective ankles, and now they are in major spin control mode.

No kidding! The Navy is desperately SPINNING in a hastily called Pentagon news conference. See:

Michael and Ashton & Leska,

I've followed your writings and I'm glad you both picked up on this thread. You may know a bit about me.

I would hope that this thread might become "collection central" for those who have had direct communication with the players involved.

That means "no opinions please." (Except for my own of course, which I just expressed.)[Grin]

If this thread dies, it dies.

To everyone else, let's try to keep it pure?

Thanks in advance.

I should clarify:

"No opinions, please" means you don't post to this thread unless you have had direct contact (phone, email, whatever) with people who have been quoted in mainstream media.

As an example, Jim Lord (who is most likely receiving a flood of email right about now) has a choice. He can respond--or not.

Likewise the utilities mentioned in the report.

Direct correspondence with U.S. Senators and Congressmen/women are also fair game. Mayors are too, etc., etc.

In all of this, before you hit the "post a response button," understand the implied obligation to name names.

Michael,

Could you confirm something for me. I have heard that on Jim's puter the email message doesn't say "You have mail" but rather says "Incoming!!!". Is that true? :-)

FM,

It has all certainly be a fascinating "rollercoaster ride."

Educational too!

;-D

BTW, In case you missed it, a Navy guy sent me this...

Gordon,

That's a very funny question but is it truly relevant to the purpose of this thread?

Please, guys, make every effort to keep this thread pure in the hope it may offer us more insight into what has actually happened during the past 24 hours.

Thanks in advance, again.

Thanks, Diane.

This may be the story of the evening, however, and it appropriately belongs on this thread.

Too tired to hotlink. Submissions with regard to that are welcome.

Ooops. Perhaps I should have said "hotlink rescue efforts" are welcome.

'Night.

Hotlink...

How did Koskinen hear about the Navy Document? I told him.

To the top, because--I'm very curious as to how or if he will publicly follow up on the Navy's response.

Question still stands. It's now Monday, past the close of business in the East.

Anybody heard from him?

:)
