Using the message board to define stores

greenspun.com : LUSENET : WineAccess Business : One Thread

Can a version of the message board be created to ask WineAccess customers (10,000) which are their favorite stores? We can have a lottery giving someone 3 bottles of Chateau Latour 95 from my cellar. This would give us very quick data about stores and why people like them! Thoughts? How long to develop this?

palmerwac: it's a great way to id new stores palmerwac: it's easy to develop jweinrott: yes and we could greatly simplify the number of questions we need to ask the stores, i think palmerwac: it might be a message board, it might be a polling function, it might be something else. I have to think about the user interface. But the function is great jweinrott: good. we can do the same thing with the wineries, allowing them to define the stores. palmerwac: yes yes yes jweinrott: Each time a store is nominated, we can call the store, get their email address and show them how their doing in the poll.

Lightbulb! (after the smoke clears from the gears grinding in my head) I thought you were talking about building this functionality into the future site as opposed to using this free message board service to do it now.

(thought I would post my confusion in case it was shared by anyone else. fat chance, right Jim?)

update - Jeff is working on this now I think...

We can do the same thing with wineries about stores. We could offer the winning winery the free message board software for communicating with their community or maybe free advertising on the site.

Customer questionnaire on stores should include: What are your favorite store(s); which town is it in?; your favorite salesperson in the store; why do you like the store?; grade their newsletter (a-e).
