So is this the reason the New York Times dismissed Jim Lord?

It seems the NYT, the "mother load" of all newspapers is very much in bed with you know who.

One doesn't bite the hand that feeds one--or at the very least, the the hand that the other hand has lunch with.

Do you mean the Partnership with the Presidents Council on Year 2000 Conversion, or that 70% of all the recommended web sites contain gov imbedded in the URL?

Some things are self-evident. One of them is that the NYT is a mouthpiece for the Clinton White House.

No, I think it's even more basic than that, irregardless of who may be in the White House.

The NYTimes accepts a large amount of advertising from Banks, brokerage houses, and the like. Bank runs = lost ad revenue.

Board members and officers of the NYTimes also sit on the boards of organizations like the Council on Foreign Relations. (Leslie Gelb and Cyrus Vance, who was Sec of State under Carter, though I don't think he's on the Board of the Times anymore.)

Have to clean my hiking boots before I lurk at your links pshannon... not that it matters any.

And... don't forget... and "active" representative from the Federal Reserve Bank(s) is a key player on Koskinen's Council. (They even hold meetings at their headquarters). See...

For running a Year 2000 working group representing financial institutions.

"Steve has probably created the most organized working group that we have. They have regular monthly meetings; they have detailed agenda packages; they have now had two or three industry summits. He has a great air of authority and enthusiasm for what he does, [and] he has engendered respect from other agencies."
