Filtering waste water for drinking

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

If it gets real bad where sewage backs up and clean water is not available could one filter waste water thru Berkfield filters for drinking purposes? This would kill 2 birds with one stone.

I figure that would reduce the lifespan of their filters but it may be worth it to consider.

British Berkefeld's Big Berkey was made for such purposes. For more information go to their web site:

Hey, get serious you guys! You MAY be able to filter out the bacteria, but you won't be filtering out all the dissolved chemicals. Call your health department, or a water testing laboratory. The nitrates alone will cause you illness or death.
