Waco Info on CNN

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hi All,

I believe that the current Waco issue has relevance to Y2k, particularly martial law. This is the military and police apparatus we will be dealing with in any post-Y2k emergency situation. How our government deals with Waco tells us a lot about how they will deal with citizens in the aftermath of Y2k. In addition, how the media covers (or doesn't cover) the controversy over Waco dovetails with questions on the media's faithfullness and veracity RE Y2k reporting. For instance, I've just heard a National Public Radio piece that uses the purported beliefs of "racist hate groups" to smear by association all those who question the official government view on Waco. It also relegated the view that the ATF deliberately burned out the Davidians and fired upon them when they tried to escape the blaze, to "fringe elements on the internet." No mention was made that this is the conclusion drawn from the photographic evidence and expert testiomony of the Academy Award nominated film "Waco: The Rules of Engagement," which also won the prestigious IDA documentary award. It is available at your local video store. You can buy and read consumer reviews of it here, at Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1567301738/qid%3D935803643/002-8361019-0512261. I think it is the most important American film ever made. But you don't have to believe me, just watch the film and decide for yourself; it's not mere opinion; there is solid evidence and supressed information in it, that members of the press are truly afraid to talk about publicly. Please watch it, and make up your own mind. At worst, you will gain greater insight into the "lunatic fringe" that disbelieves that government and the media.

Here's a thread at another forum, where there's a transcript of some key people talking on CNN about the latest Waco evidence, and how the current FBI disclosures were forced (by the upcoming sequel to "Waco:The Rules of Engagement", called "The Final Prophecy" and due in September) and why these new admissions by the FBI represent not the truth, but further "spin," in advance of the new film's release. Here's the address: http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a37c7223e3666.htm

Don't believe me. But don't believe the media either; they've done nothing but perpetuate the lies the government now admits it told. I deeply believe that if we don't admit, as a nation, what really happened at Waco, we will see more and more Wacos happen. Please learn the truth about Waco, by watching "Waco: The Rules of Engagement," and making up your own mind. Thank you.

Any government that will lie about the brutal murder of 84 men, women and children by government agents will not hesitate to lie about two digits on a computer.

I don't need to see the video. I'm not a member of any militia. I'm not a Christian. I didn't even know what a modern militia group was when I saw the live coverage on CNN during the "final event". It was clear to me that the government had murdered the people inside. I walked around in a state of shock for days. I couldn't understand why nothing was done to bring the ATF officers in charge to court martial (or whatever). The senate investigation later seemed like a joke to me....

Berry,

Me too. I was in school at the time, and my fellow students and teachers were all laughing about the "Whackos." Even after they were burned down, the consensus was "they asked for it." It was like being in a nightmare, where everyone around you becomes one of the flesh-eating pod-people.

So many people believed the lies without question, didn't think of the children at all.

Maybe they just need to pick a few berries...

I remember watching the coverage, too. Home with a one year old at the time and remember being horrified and thinking those children inside were the true victims, looking to their parents for protection and innocently led to their deaths. I'll think about renting the video sometime,Liberty.

liberty, thank you so much. i second this recommendation of the film Waco: Rules of Engagement. just saw it, and the film is very powerful. they asked for help from 911 who couldn't do anything, and begged to talk to the press so the real story could be told. the lenghts that "they" will go to, to cover their ass was astonishing. i was in high school at the time, and never gave it much thought. still didn't give it much thought until reading about it in this forum along with ruby ridge. my eyes are open now, and i've seen more than i wanted to see. but i'd rather be aware, than unaware. i have many thoughts on the film, but i don't feel as free as i should to express them on the internet. just watch the film. the evidence is overwhelming. thanks again liberty. at least there's one freedom that will never be taken from us.

On a positive note. The public is getting an earful about this now. It is all over the media. There is going to be a full congressional hearing and Reno is now being forced to sit in front of a congressional committee.

Here's the point. It couldn't have come at a worst time for the gov. What citizen is now going to give up their weapons to people at the door? How many will now join together to withstand exec. orders under martial law? Because of waco, there will be a lot more wacos ahead during y2k.

i have learned to look at all news stories as if i'm looking into a mirror.

if the gov. says that they didn't burn out the dividians---then the truth is that they did.

if the cigarette people say that smoking doesn't cause cander---then it does.

when clinton waged is finger at the nation over monice---then he did...her.

social security, the iron triangle etc. etc. is compliant---infomagic.

it is said around washington dc that no rumor is true until it is sternly denied. the truth has been turned on its head

Sad to say, I thought the Davidians were all whackos and I bought the media line totally--until I saw the video. After that, I realized how managed our news was (and still is) and never trusted anything coming from the Mainstream media.

-- Sandmann (Sandmann@alasbab.com), August 28, 1999.

BB - you must have just come back from LaLa land if you think Congressional hearings will get to the bottom of this. There was ALWAYS enough evidence for the Senate and Congress to try Clinton et. al for TREASON, but instead they dicked around with Monica and her trained cigar. They blew their wad on that charade and will NOT have another major investigation. And if you have ever listened to Janet (Stonewall) Reno talk on ANY subject you will know she is a Master of obfuscation. If any thing DOJ will launch an investigation. So.

Perhaps though we can hope that GW will seize on it to turn the attention from the drug issue. Though the Bushes share enough skeletons with the Clintons that even that is doubtful. If the best friend of the pres. turns up with a perfectly round bulletsized hole in the top of his head and there is no serious inquiry.. if the best friend of Hil comes to a very mysterious end and there is no serious inquiry.. what makes you think a bunch of Waco whackos will make it down that long long road to justice? I too hope.. but have lost faith.

Thanks Liberty for the repeated movie reviews. Rented it today.. watching it tonight. Even though I have done *some* reading about Waco, had never thought of checking out my local video store - had never noticed it on the shelves.
