chicken plucker

it will soon be time for us to butcher 100 chickens and would like to find plans on how to make our own chicken plucker. if someone has plans i would appreciate a reply. thanks arlo

You might do what we did last fall--and just skipped plucking the chickens altogether. We skinned them instead, which turned out to be a whole lot faster, and probably healthier. Just don't do what my hubby did. He cut himself badly on the knuckle gutting the little buggers. Despite stiches, bandages (he kept on working the hand, and split the stitches one by one)--he got a nasty infection. That was a year ago, and it still hurts when it gets chilly and damp out. Chickens carry a germ that can very quickly get realy nasty in an open wound. It you nick yourself, clean it well and take good care of it. Just be careful, you'll be fine.
