Nice idea. However, thanks to all my neighbors discarding candles at garage sales, I now have a very nice stash.

I've picked up a ton of things at garagae sales also. I just kept thinking what a mistake these people were making selling these items. Bet they will wish they had them back soon.

I saw two nice oil lamps at a g. sale just last Saturday. I would have snatched them up but I already have several. Maybe some new GI will grab them. (People are idiots. We're doomed. Have a nice day.)

Regarding candles - $2 for 35 hours is no bargain (unless they are multiple-wick and thus are brighter or something). I have gotten those glass jar candles (like the religious ones except without the pictures) at the grocery store for $.99 - $1.29. I let one burn continuously to see how long it would last... 160 hours or over 6.5 days! And I didn't have to pay postage on them. They are often found at discount stores - like 99 cent stores.

My Preference is the glass encased Novena (Nine Day) candles I can buy at the grocery for 99 cents (just bought another four to add to my collection of 2 dozen) that someone mentioned. I feel these are safer than tapers and other candles with wax exposed. My preference is to not burn anything....if the power is out come 01/ 01 there will likely be a lot of fires out there, in part due to folks who don't know what they're doing burning candles and oil lamps. I have an independant power system and various low power lights based on compact fluorescent and LED technology. I won't have to burn candles but have some as backup and in case some sweetie comes by that requires wining and dining (another slice of spam my dear?)
DCK.....Got Wine?

"I have gotten those glass jar candles (like the religious ones except without the pictures) at the grocery store for $.99 - $1.29."I found the same candles at my dollar store...I'm not very religious, but considering all the problems y2k could bring, I found the pictures of Mary and Jesus somewhat appealing. I bought a dozen with the pictures.
