State Contingency Plans, is this true

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I just heard from a trianer that teaches at my office that part of the contingency plans for the states of AZ.,CO.,UT., and NM. will be to shut down their state borders if TSHTF. Has anyone heard of this.

She lives in AZ and has a nice chunk of land. I was thinking if it started to get to hairy in Socal I would pack up my truck and trailer with my goods and head for AZ. Will I be stopped at the border.

Haven't heard about that here in NM either. There was some talk awhile back about "islanding" the power plants around here from the rest of the grid, specifically Palo Duro Nuclear, and the coal fired plant in Farmington. They said they could unhook from the grid in a few hours...

Nope, no plans to close the borders...

scratchin' an itch...

There's been talk of some smaller towns and cities on major highways closing their off-ramps in the event of a Y2k exodus from city blackouts. I think Eugene OR passed a resolution to do that. Others won't need a resolution. I don't see why States wouldn't do the same.

Be at your destination before rollover. Anything less is asking for trouble.

I hear talk of using the Az Nat'l Guard to control traffic on the Interstates.

Keep those Californians bottled up at the Colorado River.
