OT - FRL 7

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hear ye Hear ye The FRL will now come to Order

(cyber gavel hush)

My fellow FRLians,

It is with great happiness that I wish each of you a Happy Anniversary! Nine months ago yesterday, December 11th a Day which will live famously - the FRL was born, and here we are still, some seven threads and over one thousand two hundred responses later. Some folks may think of this Forum as their Home when on the net. We FRLians think of the FRL as our Home away from Home; a place that is always here, always open a place to come and talk with our cyber friends, laugh, and sometimes sigh together. The FRL continues to be a very special place - a Home where we belong, and anyone who thinks we do not belong in a Home hasnt read what weve been posting on these threads! Lets celebrate our anniversary and the happy times together these last nine months, as we also look forward to future fun together. It has been my extinct pleasure to serve such an extinguished group, and by the powers arrested in me, I declare this to be the FRLian Anniversary Party Thread.

Come one, come all, in the FRLian spirit of having fun and good times. Eat, drink, and be merry! Theres no place like Home.

Long Live the FRL!!!!

(cyber gavel)

You may now return to being out of order.

Let the Party Begin!

This isn't some kind of Puerto Rican liberation thing, is it?

-- Mara Wayne (MaraWayne@aol.com), September 12, 1999.

Mara: Welcome! No, nothing like that, LOL.

Here is a little background for those of you that may think we are crazy (You're right), and not know what The FRL is.

Who we are: The Fruitcake Resistance League (FRL) - People who post to this thread are FRLians.

What we do: Protect our Freedoms whenever and wherever and whyever and however we must against the evil en, ene, enem, enemy known as the Fruitcake Reserve Bored (The Bored) and their insidious plots - the most recent one was called "Know Your Fruitcake. The FRL was incremental in de-feeting, or dis-arming, or stopping this wicked proposal from becoming realty.

So welcome all FRLians, Lurkers, Posters, Newbies, and especially future FRLians. Feel free to join the Party!

Diane: Oh Great Seeress and Shatterer of Record after Record - Thank you for the music and drink.

MMMMmmmmm... That is tastepee! Hickupup. Let the fun Begin!

Got my special invite from 'Trish the Dish", and a whole pireaux load a' Jiggle Juice. Iggies out to the truck, watchin' it cause he's not sofist...sophas....sophes.....he's not cool like me.

I even got the music, Hank Williams, like you didn't need to ask!

-- Lon Frank (lgal@exp.net), September 12, 1999.

Welcome, Lon. I'll be hanging in as long as my monitor lets me. I don't think it approves of alcohol, though, so I'll just have to nurse this drink awhile. Rob sobers up as quick as he grabs 3 sheets, so he'll be readable pretty quick (prolly about the time I get the typing 'flu, a common response to drinking) ;-)

Tell Iggie that giggle juice has to do for a bunch of lurkers, too, so's he'd better not get up to his old tricks and glug it all down!

Trish, aren't you kinda, ...er, ...mature to be havin' a monitor? Tell the ole bat to leave you be and let's see if we can find some trouble ta get into.

An' Iggie says that product quality control is his mainest job. But he's eatin' them pork skins out there as he checks the quality, so be sure you get a jar with no crumbs floatin' in it. I swear, I try to teach the boy, but he just ain't sophister.... sophest..... sofertica... hell, the boy just ain't got no culture.

Marie, WELCOME!!!

I've always wanted to meet Mrs. Michaels. That sonofdust must be truly interesting to live with (don't blame you for banishing him to the car now and then). With every day that passes, I hope Y2K is Y2fizzle and that we get to meet at Unc's party next summer :-)

-- Tricia the Canuck (tricia_canuck@hotmail.com), September 12, 1999.

Naw, Trish, Iggie's ma cousin, Ignoratium Chalmet, President of Jiggle Juice Inc. He's the one what got stinkin' rich along with that Greybear fella, supplying the er...needs...of all those depraved reprobates and loose wimmen at that there circus. (Gawd, they did have some purdy elefunts, tho.)

And please, try to keep it under your bonnet about my evil twin. I ain't seen him but oncet lately, but it IS the dark of the moon, down on the bayou......

-- Diane J. Squire (sacredspaces@yahoo.com), September 12, 1999.

Hi, Chuck - while the cat's away, right? ;->

'Bout time y'all got here wti the fodd , Gaylsa. thsi here giggle juise is mighty poferwul stulff.

-- T the C (tricia_canuck@hotmail.com), September 12, 1999.

Oops, fergot ter ask, Gaylsa, do you no how to sign up fer some chat rom a liddlwe bird d tol me 'b out? I dunno whcih trhead itts on..

-- T the C (tricia_canuck@hotmail.com), September 12, 1999.

Good idea, Trish. Go ahead and keep your eye out, and I'll take out my teeth and hang my hair on the hat rack!

And Diane, don't worry about who's under the table. I think it's just Iggie and Donna, playing "pup-tent" with her sheet.

And I hope we all...........OOOOHH .......AAARGGGHH...AHH.. ---------------- So youse call this a party huh? I been to funerals what were more fun! My Granny's, for instance. The old broad gave us such a good time, we dug her up and planted her all over again the very next week.

An' I thought there were s'posed to be GOOD looking wimmen here. That Diana might be a fair squeeze, but I swear I seen better hair on fried chicken!

An' fer the rest of you losers...... OOOH....AAARRRRGGGH ...AAAH ---------------

Oh, no! It happened again didn't it? I morphed into my evil twin, Lon Frankenstien, again. I hope nobody got hurt or nuthin' (I didn't bite the heads off'n any chickens, did I?) I....I,..just can't remember. But Trish, I TOLE you not to mention him.

-- Lon Frank (lgal@exp.net), September 13, 1999.

I hope this works...

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), September 13, 1999.

You're right, Lon, you did warn me. Sorry! But I think that Diane got YET mixed up with Rob-when-drunk on that last thread. Green with red eyes and all...

Gayla, that seafood really hit the spot - I looove seafood and only rarely get to eat it. 'Sides, it seems to have sobered me up a bit. In fact, maybe I can get away wiht a nother glassful of wine...

-- T the C (tricia_canuck@hotmail.com), September 13, 1999.

OOPS! :-) I was trying to get a "party" size platter, but that thing takes forever to download! Sorry! It's just that Diane told me we needed some different food, and... well, I KNOW what kind of food Lon eats.... that is the um... regular (non-Frankenstein version) Lon.

Tricia, does the top part of that picture look blurry to you, or is just my eyes? I swear I haven't touched the "juice!" :-)

OK, about my "tardy" excuse. I went to hear Michael Hyatt tonight! It was awesome!! After the seminar was over, I got a chance to talk to him in person. He has some really interesting scoop that he got firsthand about Wal-mart and Sam's!!!

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), September 13, 1999.

Hey! I hate showing up so late for a party that everyone is already drunk! Not fair. Then you just realize how ridiculous everyone is acting & it's impossible to get a buzz.

They all dance to Gloria's Conga & you are still sober enough to know that it is the music they make you listen to in Hell. Bummer.

Quick get me a drink! Before I figure out how to link us up to some real music.

-- Deborah (infowars@yahoo.com), September 13, 1999.

Welcome, Deborah! Hav e aglass of jiggle juice, wery potent. Cach uo up in no tmie. Me, I gotta go to bed, vor now, but I tink that dis par-d could last fer daze.

spekin of daze, yah, Gayla, that tray's focussd out. (you heard about tha t chat- wuz it uyo or Dona start'n it? I cn sine up, ;cause I cain;t sto p weamvin.) Nighrt fer noww.

-- T the C (tricia_canuck@hotmail.com), September 13, 1999.

T,

Thanks, that yummy popcorn was making me thirsty! See ya later (lightweight ;-D

Hey the music is sounding better already, that is really good juice!

-- Deborah (infowars@yahoo.com), September 13, 1999.

Well I finally made it! I thought I'd never get away! Those guys from Acme are really persistent!

I see Lon has brought some of the good stuff, but where, indeed is that pizza, Gayla? And didn't you bring any cantaloupes? I hear that they're really terrific if you inject them with Stolichnya and chill them!

Mrs. Michaels, I suspect that I know what it's like living with Rob; Harderliner tells me all the time. But just think! You could be married to some loser like "Slick Willy". It's all relative, eh?

Diane! It's great to see you infected with the digital music bug! These're some good sounds!

Hey Trish! I think that whatever your monitor's got is catching. A little while ago, one of mine went really haywire! I was just sitting here minding my own business when it started spitting high voltage all over the place. I thought I was in the Sing-Sing death chamber with "Old Sparky"! I hope your's does better than this one, 'cause it's in sad shape.

Since this's one of those party 'til ya drop affairs, I got dibs on the spot under the piano to crash!

Anybody seen Rob lately? And did anyone think to call S.O.B about this here shindig?

Whoo-EEE! Lon, that is some fine juse! iz strtn t werk alreddy!

-- Hardliner (searcher@internet.com), September 13, 1999.

What a wonderful party! I don't know any people who could do it better...I'm weeping into my hands....a nice party and no stress...to much to be believed. Mind you, this is coming from a woman who needs her serotonins inhibited...

I'm proud of you all....can I just hang here in the corner and snarf the hors de ouvres? If not you'll have to lead to me to the dance floor,...I'm not as snappy as I should be. But I got my party sheets on...and Lon can't yank 'em.

-- Donna (moment@pacbell.net), September 13, 1999.

See y'all around.

This is one hell of a party! My Sound card has not worked for years due to an interupt conflict with the network card, I come in here and I hear MUSIC! Took me a while to figure out that the FRL had a magician perfoming here!!! This is great THANKS!!!!!

Now where is that punch!!!!!!

-- helium (heliumavid@yahoo.com), September 13, 1999.

Hi youz guyz. Glad to see the party is still going strong. I'll be back later tonight to join in the fun, and I promise not to get too silly this time :) Besides, I have to get Donna out of that corner and on the dance floor. This party idea started with her after all. Now where did I put my dancin' shoes?

Welcome back Good Sir Cook, Bearer of the Order of the Fruit!

Hi helium, glad you could make it and that you are wired for sound!

-- Rob Michaels (sonofdust@com.net), September 13, 1999.

Robert! You're back online! YEA!!!! No drinking while you're supposed to be working though! :-)

Hey, where's Leska? I want to see HER out on the dance floor. After what I just read about her past (it was SO sad!) she needs to come in here with her friends and party!

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), September 13, 1999.

ZZZZZZZZZ.zzzzzzzzz....AK....SNA RF.....HUH?

Oh wow, I musta feel asleep behind the couch. (streching). Hey, why are there footprints on my chest?

Oh, brother. (scratching varous parts of one's anatomy) Anybody got any of that pizza left?

-- Lon Frank (lgal@exp.net), September 13, 1999.

Yuck, 3 tries to type my e-addy. Maybe that typing 'flu wasn't the drink's fault after all.

Y'all sound like you're gonna have a blast. I'm busy tonight, but I'll try to check in later - have fun and be good ;-)

(Anybody remember to invite A&L? Where's Leska's story, Gayla?)

-- T the C (tricia_canuck@hotmail.com), September 13, 1999.

Rob, my husband (Steve) says that Marie is RIGHT! We are all nuts! :-)

Tricia, you can find the story here on Uncle Deedah's thread about the hurricane. Speaking of Uncle Deedah, he is only a few miles from the East coast of Florida. I'm really afraid for him, his wife, and their pets. Please say a prayer. Thanks!

Link

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), September 13, 1999.

I was wondering about that too Gayla, so thanks for the link. We all miss Ashton and Leska here at the party. They have always given so much to both the Forum and the FRL. Maybe they will be able to come later.

Gotta run now but will check in when I get back later. One of the things I will be doing is calling some relatives who are also down near the coast there too.

Uncle: You know our thoughts are with you. Be well and safe.

Hey peeps! My mom says I can come to this party as long as I promise not to drink anything. So... I'll contribute music! As soon as I can get Diane sobered up enough to tell me how to load a song off a CD onto a link. So... c'mon Diane! You can do it!

-- Carla the Canuck (got@no.address), September 13, 1999.

Hi Carla. So, mom said you could come to our party huh? Seems like she has been doin a lot of invitin' :) Does she do this for your parties too? OK, I guess its alright. Uh, just watch out for ALL drinks here - even the non-alcoholic ones. Once someone put a potion in one and I haven't been the same since! Enjoy.

Donna? OH DONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNA? Where are you hiding now? I wanna dance and you simply cannot stay in that corner!

Hey Lon, check out this guy! Keeps in time with the music! Whats a party without an Elephant right? (Thought this might help you keep an even keel).

Gayla: I told Marie that she has some messages from her one and only ever post and she just gave me a look. Do you know that look? The one that can sour milk? Actually, I think she got a kick out of it, but I don't expect she will ever let on or do it again. She says to me "At least you aren't boring". LOL. Now, where was I? Oh yeah, Donna.

As I go to the corners to try and find Donna, I see a drunk bug:

HAHAHAHA WEEEEEEeeee. ! Some party, huh? Even the bugs are cutting a rug... But no sign of our Lady in the Sheets. Here I went through all those boxes of duct tape, and found my dancin shoes underneath one, and now there is nobody to dance with. :(

Is that the Y2K Bug??? :-)

C'mon Rob, I'll dance with you!!

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), September 13, 1999.

Yippee! Ok, Lets Dance Gayla! You sure do look fine in that there outfit. Good thing we are both hippily mired!

-- Rob Michaels (sonofdust@com.net), September 13, 1999.

OOOOooooooooo! I love a man in a cape! Steve said it's OK if I dance with you cuz he's busy watching football. (Dancing is NOT his favorite sport!) :-)

(Singing sweetly) "I know you, I've waltzed with you once upon a dream...."

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), September 13, 1999.

Uh, Rob????? I think I found out why no one else is coming to play. I just got an e-mail from Diane. She said every time she tries to come in here, her machine crashes. :-O

Perhaps we partied just a little too hardy? Maybe on the next thread we need to put only links for music, and not actually download a song? I won't put in any more HUGE pictures, either. :-D

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), September 14, 1999.

Wow. I've heard of crashing a party but this is ridiculous! Wonder why we are able to get in but not some others... must be the 'puters themselves. Hmmm. Maybe there really is something to that there other computer thingy - I think it's called Y2K ;)

OK. It's not right that they can't get in so I guess we should start another thread "FRL #8 The Parties Over" maybe? You wanna do the honors Gayla?

-- Rob Michaels (sonofdust@com.net), September 14, 1999.

I'm here, too (but I think Rob's crashed). I came to send Carla home to bed; school tomorrow. Ashton and Leska are around, but haven't peeked in yet - their computer prolly doesn't like this thread any more than Diane's. Maybe we should move the par-d to someplace they can come to, too. And did anyone think to invite Ol' Git? Possibly some just don't feel like par-d-ing until Floyd goes away. He's a real par-d pooper!

-- T the C (tricia_canuck@hotmail.com), September 14, 1999.

I'm still here Tricia but I am not so sure about Gayla. We have been talking on her hurricane thread so I know she is still around, but she hasn't posted here for a while. I'll start the new FRL thread now so people can check in if they are still around.

-- Rob (sonofdust@com.net), September 14, 1999.

Here is a link to the new FRL thread for those that come here: FRL 8
