I think the best capture cards to get if you are working on a pc are either the DV Raptor or DV Rex from Canopus. I bought a turnkey system and have actually given up on asking them for tech support because the online Raptor forum is so helpful and so quick. Check them out at http://canopuscorp.com. Check out the user forums....

hope this helps..

I've been wondering about a similar thing. As far as i know the Raptor only has digital output. The Rex card (also from Canopus) is a hardware Codec and has digital and analogue output but enormously expensive. I've posted a question asking how one can record finished dv edited output to vhs without buying an expensive card. Presumably if the camera has vhs output and digital input one could feed back into the camera from the computer and then out to a vhs recorder??? But that doesn't help you...
