How can I get rid of humidity in shelter ?

I would like to know how can I build a calcium-chloride air-drier ? I do not have electricity and it is a shelter for y2k, and I have made some fan to withdraw the air to outside but the question is, if there is no electricity 12 volts and I run out of battery how can I remove the humidity when 4 people are breathing in the basement for one year in the fall out, and it is raining out side.

Nasseri,

You might try a product called "Damp-Rid". They have a web site;

http://damprid.com/

Have a look. It might be what you need.

You might want to learn how to make your own. Read Nuclear War Surivival Skills, under the chapter about making your own KFM (Kearney Fallout Meter) is tells you how to make your own desicant. Instead of bringing the stuff into 1/2" cubes, just leave it big.

Order NWSS from http:\\www.oism.org , er uh well, get the phone number that you can call them to get the address to where to send the check to. They don't have online ordering.

NWSS is the single best book on survival that I know of.

Try crushed charcoal in pans around the shelter. Charcaol abshorts moisture. Might work and cheap.

Typo. Bringing = breaking.
